For: Chief EngineerSubject::: Voices of the indoctrination part 4.
The following are more transcriptions of comments I overheard while in training sessions.
"Listen, berk, I don't give a damn if you were a general of a fallen house or not. You're the lowliest of the low in our army now. Drop and give me fifty! You're a trooper now. There's no one here who'll address you as 'Sir'. Anyone, who does, shall receive twenty lashes. As far as we're concerned, you're a new recruit and you're to be treated as one."- A Drill Instructor from House Ziverk.
"I ain't here to baby-sit you! I ain't here to hold your hand or wipe your nose! I ain't your damn mother neither! What I will do is whip you into shape. You will be soldiers. As pathetic as your bodies are now, you'll soon learn how to hone your physique and to shape your mind to fit the military mold. You will thank me for this. It is a great gift that our house offers you!"- A Drill Instructor in House Khrylos
"I ain't doing a damn thing!""You signed the contract, right?""Yeah, so?""Well, you got two options then: you can either do what I say, or you can work in the slave pits until you decide to change your mind. You're in the army now, son. We don't play them damn 'whining civilian' games here. We're out there fighting a war, not sitting around farming and talking about how nice the weather is. Drop!"-Average conversation between a Drill Instructor and a volunteer conscript who just doesn't get it.
